Neglect

Neglect

ne·glect

nəˈɡlekt/

verb 1. fail to care for properly. “The old churchyard has been sadly neglected.”

noun 1. the state or fact of being uncared for. “A garden dying through disease or neglect.”

No matter which way you look at it, my blog has been in a state of neglect for over the past year. I took a new job. My son became increasingly more involved in extracurricular activities. We bought a new puppy. Life just simply gotten in the way.

Over the past few weeks, however, I’ve come to realize how much I’ve missed writing, photography, drawing- this list goes on and on. I have been so wrapped up in life, I’ve forgotten the simple things I enjoy most about living. Art has always been a stress reliever for me, and oh how I have missed it!

Time for change.

My goal for the balance of 2016 is to post once a week on my site. As much as I would love to find the time to do more, it is all about the baby steps, starting small, and working my way up to more. Be it a pencil sketch on the back of  a dinner napkin, a photograph from my latest work road trip, or a short essay on the inner working of my often messed-up mind, I pledge to share a snippet of my life with the world each Sunday. Lucky you!

No more neglect.

Now, to kick off my pledge in grand fashion, I share with you a piece I completed a few short weeks ago. Actually, this is the first piece of art I’ve worked on in well over a year and a half. It was the catalyst for this post, reminding me to tap back into my creative side.
